In New Year’s Speech, Kim Jong-Un Says He’s Inches From a Nuclear Strike — & More Weapons Are Coming

Kirsters Baish| Welcoming a new year usually involves wishes of world peace and kindness to all. Obviously, things are different when it comes to the communist nation of North Korea. The dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, decided it was best to welcome 2018 with threats against the United States of America. He bragged that he has access to a “nuclear button” which is located on his desk. He warned America that the nuclear weapons at his disposal can reach the shores of our country and everywhere in between.

Kim Jong Un’s words were heard loud and clear throughout North Korea and were televised.

The speech was translated by the Associated Press. Jong Un stated, “The U.S. should know that the button for nuclear weapons is on my table. The entire area of the U.S. mainland is within our nuclear strike range.” And if that wasn’t enough for a cheery celebration of the new year, Kim announced plans to begin mass-producing nuclear warheads. He warned the U.S. that it can “never start a war against me and our country.”

The North Korean dictator warned Americans that his nuclear arsenal of weapons is not just a threat, but a reality.

The ruthless dictator addressed his nation’s people saying, “We must mass-produce nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles and speed up their deployment.”

He went on to say that it would be impossible for the United States to start a war against the North Koreans. He also offered North Korea’s democratic neighbor South Korea hopes of peace in the new year. He stated that he was “open to dialogue” with Seoul and wished them good luck in the coming Winter Olympics which will be held in South Korea.

He was quoted saying, “When it comes to North-South relations, we should lower the military tensions on the Korean Peninsula to create a peaceful environment. Both the North and the South should make efforts.”

As his speech went on, he stated that he would consider possibly sending a delegation to the Winter Olympics which are to be held in Pyeonchang, South Korea, next month. South Korean President Moon Jae-in stated that he thinks that North Korea’s participation will aid in the safety of people in his country.

President Trump took his seat in office almost a full year ago, and since then tension with North Korea have reached an all-time high. Kim Jong Un has made it clear that he will not be backing down, but neither will we. Happy New Year, to all of you hard-working Americans out there.
