Kirsters Baish| President Donald Trump made a suggestion on Twitter earlier in the month which left liberals fuming. He explained that he may be cutting off aid to the terror-affiliated Palestinians. Former President Barack Obama had treated them like royalty, but President Trump has other plans.
The State Department announced this week that they are intending to not only withhold $45 million in aid to the Palestinians, but they are also holding an additional “$65 million it had planned to pay the U.N. agency that serves the Palestinians” reported Reuters.
The agency in mention is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (aka: UNRWA.) This could seriously be what we need to do.
Below is President Trump’s original tweet:
It's not only Pakistan that we pay billions of dollars to for nothing, but also many other countries, and others. As an example, we pay the Palestinians HUNDRED OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year and get no appreciation or respect. They don’t even want to negotiate a long overdue…

Recall back to 2015 when the Obama administration granted the UNRWA an enormous sum of $380 million. UNRWA’s financial records reported that $20 million of this money went right toward “Gaza Recovery & Reconstruction”
State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert spoke on the matter this week. She referenced the $45 million which was originally meant to go to the Palestinians saying, “At this time, we will not be providing that, but that does not mean — I want to make it clear — that does not mean that it will not be provided in the future.”
Nauert seemed to be hinting that President Donald Trump could possibly reconsider his decision if the Palestinians were to stop acting as if they were entitled to the money.
If the Palestinian Authority were to stop treating convicted terrorists as martyrs it would seriously help their case as well. The Jerusalem Post reported that the PA “paid terrorists and their families over $347 million last year” alone.
“The PA pays terrorists who are sentenced to 20 years or more in prison — in other words, those who committed more severe crimes, and likely were involved in killing Israelis — five times that each month for the rest of their lives.”
When it comes to the $65 million that was originally planned to go towards UNRWA, Nauert explained that the agency must reform. She also called on other countries to help as well.
Other countries that were hesitant in the past about helping have already started sending funds to UNRWA simply because the Trump administration has a willingness to stand up for themselves.
Arutz Sheva spoke this week explaining, “Belgium on Wednesday pledged to allocate $23 million to UNRWA, the UN agency for ‘Palestinian refugees’, following the U.S. decision to cut by half the funding it provides to the agency.”
With this being said, some still say that both the Palestinian Authority as well as the UNRWA should be defunded permanently. UNRWA has been caught in the past promoting anti-semitism to young children. The Palestinians have also been found having been involved in multiple forms of terrosim against the people of Israel.
Now that Barack Obama is no longer in office we do not need to pretend that these people are our allies. It’s time to put our feet down and stop aiding terrorists.
